The death case of Deepika Nagar in Greater Noida has sparked widespread debate and emotional reactions across social media and local communities. Police have arrested four people so far, including her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and cousin uncle-in-law. Deepika’s family has alleged dowry-related murder and demanded strict punishment for all accused.
At the same time, the case has divided public opinion online. While one section is demanding justice for Deepika, another has launched a “Justice for Hritik” campaign in support of her husband. Police, however, stated that the investigation will proceed strictly on the basis of evidence and forensic findings rather than social media narratives.
Family Alleges Dowry Harassment After Marriage
According to Deepika’s father Sanjay Nagar, the marriage took place on December 11, 2024, with Hritik, a resident of Jalpura in Greater Noida. Deepika had completed her B.Ed degree, while Hritik was studying law in his second year.
Sanjay Nagar claimed that nearly one crore rupees were spent on the wedding, including gifting a top-model Scorpio SUV. Despite this, he alleged that Deepika’s in-laws continued demanding a Fortuner vehicle and ₹51 lakh in cash after marriage.
The family stated that Deepika was repeatedly harassed mentally and physically over dowry demands. According to her father, she called him on May 17 and informed him that she was being assaulted and pressured for money and a luxury vehicle. He later visited her in-laws’ house and tried to settle the matter through discussion.
Midnight Call Revealed Tragic Death
Later that night, around 12:30 am, Deepika’s in-laws allegedly informed her family that she had fallen from the terrace and had been taken to a hospital. When the family reached Sharda Hospital, Deepika had already died.
Her father alleged that she was thrown from the third floor and claimed there were visible injury marks on her body. Based on the complaint filed by the family, police arrested four members of the in-laws’ family.
The grieving father demanded strict punishment for the accused, saying he did not want any other daughter to suffer a similar fate.
Postmortem Report Reveals Multiple Injuries
The postmortem report reportedly confirmed several external and internal injuries on Deepika’s body. Deep bruises and injury marks were found on her face, hands, thighs, knees, and other body parts. One of the most serious injuries was reportedly found on her right thigh, while a deep wound was also detected near her left knee.
Doctors further confirmed internal bleeding, a ruptured spleen, and blood clotting in the brain. Police preserved viscera samples for toxicology examination to rule out the possibility of poisoning.
Investigators are now relying heavily on medical and forensic reports to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
Social Media Campaigns Add New Twist
As the investigation continues, the case has turned into a social media battleground. Supporters of Deepika are calling it a clear case of dowry death, while Hritik’s friends and supporters have started the “Justice for Hritik” campaign.
Several old videos and photos of the couple are being widely shared online. In these clips, Hritik is seen caring for Deepika, applying nail polish, massaging her feet, and helping with mehendi. Supporters argue that these visuals reflect a loving relationship and question whether he could commit such a crime.
Despite the online debate, police officials reiterated that the investigation will not be influenced by emotional reactions on social media.
Neighbors Share Different Perspective
Eyewitness and neighbor Gulzar Chaudhary stated that he heard a loud noise around 12:30 am and came outside to find Deepika lying on the ground. He claimed Hritik rushed downstairs immediately afterward and tried to arrange transportation to the hospital.
Some neighbors also defended the family, saying Deepika was treated like a daughter in the household. A local woman claimed that Deepika’s father-in-law purchased plots in her name and was even building a school for her future.
However, Deepika’s family alleged that the school project itself became a reason for financial pressure, with demands of ₹50 lakh being made in connection with its construction.
Police continue to investigate all possible angles in the sensitive case.
