Telugu actor Nani has retracted his criticism of Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi’s recent remark about Prabhas, expressing regret over his initial reaction. Nani had earlier condemned Arshad Warsi’s comment, which labeled Prabhas as “a joker” in the upcoming film “Kalki 2898 AD,” a statement that quickly went viral and drew considerable attention from fans and media alike.
In a statement to mid-day, Nani admitted that his response was impulsive and that the issue had been exaggerated by both media and social media platforms. Nani explained that his initial reaction was driven by his admiration for Prabhas and that his understanding of the situation evolved after viewing Arshad Warsi’s full interview. He acknowledged that the clipped versions circulating online did not fully represent the context of Arshad Warsi’s remarks.
Nani clarified that his words were poorly chosen and that the situation had been blown out of proportion. He stated, “I had only seen snippets of Arshad Warsi’s comments on social media. When it’s about someone you care about, you naturally react strongly. However, after watching the full interview, I realize that the matter was inflated by media and social media, and my reaction was also exaggerated.”
The actor emphasized the need for caution when speaking publicly, acknowledging that actors must be mindful of their language. He remarked, “We often criticize films and actors among friends, but as public figures, we must choose our words carefully. In this instance, both Arshad Warsi and I became victims of a media storm.”
Nani’s remarks came in response to Arshad Warsi’s comments during an interview with ‘Unfiltered by Samdish,’ where Arshad Warsi had compared Prabhas to a “joker” in the context of his role in the film. This comment drew significant backlash from the Telugu film industry and Prabhas’s fans, prompting criticism from several Telugu actors and filmmakers, including Sudheer Babu, Siddhu Jonnalagadda, and director Ajay Bhupathi.
In his retraction, Nani noted that his previous criticism had been fueled by a misplaced sense of loyalty and that the translation of his comment might have worsened the perception. He concluded, “Taking responsibility for one’s words is crucial. I regret how my reaction came across and how it was amplified.”
The incident highlights the delicate nature of public comments in the entertainment industry and the impact of media amplification on such interactions.
