Vice President Kamala Harris sharply criticized former President Donald Trump’s mental state and fitness for office on Tuesday, after the 78-year-old Republican’s town hall event in Pennsylvania took an unusual turn, leading to questions about his ability to lead. Kamala Harris’s remarks came just three weeks before the November 5 U.S. presidential election, where she faces Donald Trump in a tight race.

The incident in Oaks, near Philadelphia, began as a standard campaign event with Donald Trump answering questions from supporters about the economy. However, after two medical emergencies in the audience, the event veered into unexpected territory. For nearly 40 minutes, Donald Trump abandoned the Q&A session, opting instead to play music and awkwardly dance on stage. Songs ranged from opera to Guns N’ Roses, and Donald Trump spent much of the time swaying to the music, standing in place, or staring into the crowd.

The scene quickly became the subject of online mockery. Kamala Harris’s campaign wasted no time in capitalizing on the moment, posting a clip on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “Donald Trump appears lost, confused, and frozen on stage as multiple songs play for 30+ minutes, and the crowd pours out of the venue early.” Kamala Harris later added, “Hope he’s okay.”

Donald Trump has long made his signature dance—usually performed to the Village People’s 1978 hit “YMCA”—a staple at his rallies. However, on this occasion, he stayed on stage for nine songs, prompting further speculation about his well-being.

Despite the bizarre spectacle, Donald Trump showed no signs of slowing down. The following day in Atlanta, he resumed his campaign trail, dancing again to “YMCA” and delivering his usual stump speech focusing on illegal immigration and other key issues. He made no mention of the previous night’s episode or the criticism it had generated.

Donald Trump, the oldest person ever nominated for a presidential bid, has not released a recent comprehensive health report, which has led to criticism from Kamala Harris, 59. Her campaign has increasingly targeted Donald Trump’s age and mental fitness, particularly as polling shows the two candidates locked in a dead heat. With swing states likely to determine the election, both candidates are honing in on key voting blocs, including Black male voters, where Donald Trump has made gains.

As the election draws closer, Kamala Harris has intensified her focus on Donald Trump’s rallies, repeatedly questioning his stamina and readiness to serve, while Donald Trump continues to push his policies, including tariffs and economic reforms.
