Superstar Rajinikanth was discharged from Apollo Hospitals in Chennai late on October 3, following a successful non-surgical heart procedure. The veteran actor, who had been admitted to the hospital on September 30, underwent treatment for a swelling in the aorta, the main blood vessel leading from the heart. According to a medical bulletin released by the hospital, the procedure involved placing a stent in the aorta using a transcatheter method, effectively sealing off the swelling.
Performed by Senior Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Sai Satish, the procedure, known as an endovascular repair, was successful, and Rajinikanth was kept under observation for two days before being discharged. The actor is reportedly in stable condition and has been advised by doctors to rest for a few weeks before resuming his normal activities.
Fans of Rajinikanth, known affectionately as Thalaivar, were quick to express their relief and joy over his successful recovery. Social media was flooded with messages of support and well-wishes as news of his discharge spread. The actor’s fan base, which spans across India and beyond, has a history of coming together in support of their beloved star during health scares, and this was no exception.
Apollo Hospitals had earlier issued a statement on October 1, confirming the procedure and Rajinikanth’s stable condition. The statement read, “Mr. Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, on September 30, 2024, with swelling in the aorta, which was treated using a non-surgical transcatheter method. Senior Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Sai Satish placed a stent in the aorta, completely sealing off the swelling. Mr. Rajinikanth is stable and doing well. He should be home in two days.”
On the professional front, Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel, is set for release on October 10, with massive fanfare expected in theaters. The film features a star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, and Ritika Singh.
The superstar has also been working on Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, for which he recently wrapped up a shooting schedule in Visakhapatnam. However, his doctors have advised him to rest before returning to work on the film. Rajinikanth’s last public appearance was at the audio launch of Vettaiyan on September 20, just before he was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
