Union Minister Smriti Irani launched a verbal attack on Rahul Gandhi, citing former Pakistan minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain’s admiration for him on social media. Addressing a rally, Irani underscored the establishment of an AK 203 rifle factory in Amethi, suggesting its role in combating Pakistani terrorists along the border.
Irani rebuked Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, asserting his focus should be on Pakistan rather than Amethi. She directed a message to Pakistan’s leadership, emphasizing the significance of Amethi as the site of a factory producing AK 203 rifles utilized in border security operations.
Additionally, Smriti Irani criticized Rahul Gandhi for not condemning the Pakistani minister’s remarks, questioning his ties to Pakistan and implying his engagement with foreign support during national elections.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain’s social media posts praising Rahul Gandhi sparked the exchange. In one instance, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain lauded Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of the BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while in another, he commended Rahul Gandhi’s party’s pledge to conduct a wealth redistribution survey if elected.
While Smriti Irani seeks re-election from Amethi, Rahul Gandhi is contesting from Raebareli. The Congress party has nominated Kishori Lal Sharma for the Amethi Lok Sabha seat.
