Pradosh Vrat Shubh Muhurat

In the Chaitra month, the Krishna Paksha’s Trayodashi Tithi will begin on 27th March at 1:42 AM and end at 11:03 PM on the same day. Therefore, Pradosh Vrat will be observed on Thursday, 27th March 2025, and as it falls on a Thursday, it is also known as Guru Pradosh Vrat. The auspicious time for worshiping Lord Shiva will be from 6:50 PM to 9:11 PM.

Important Do’s and Don’ts During Pradosh Vrat

1. Avoid Salt Consumption: Devotees observing the Pradosh Vrat should refrain from consuming salt on this day. Instead, only fruits and water should be consumed.

2. Maintain Positive Thoughts: It is important to keep the mind free from negative thoughts during the prayer and fasting. Any arguments or lies should be avoided, as they can prevent the devotee from receiving the full benefits of the vrat.

3. Practice Brahmacharya: Devotees should maintain celibacy and avoid any indulgence during the vrat.

4. Avoid Wearing Black Clothes: During the Pradosh Vrat, devotees should not wear black clothes while performing the rituals. It is recommended to wear auspicious and clean clothes.

5. Avoid Tamasic Food: Even those who are not observing the vrat should avoid tamasic (impure or heavy) food on this day to maintain purity.

Things Not to Offer to Shiva Lingam

There are certain items that should not be offered to the Shiva Lingam during the Pradosh Vrat or any other day. These include broken rice, turmeric, basil leaves, vermilion, and coconuts. Offering these items is considered inauspicious and should be avoided during the worship.

Pradosh Vrat is an important occasion for devotees to connect with Lord Shiva, and following the proper rituals and customs helps in attaining his blessings for a prosperous and peaceful life.
