As the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections approach, the Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is focusing on strengthening its party organization. In this effort, Member of Parliament Shrikant Shinde will lead the Shiv Samvad Yatra, an outreach campaign aimed at engaging with party officials, workers, and voters across various Lok Sabha constituencies in Mumbai. The yatra is set to begin on Friday, March 7, from the Mumbai North-East Lok Sabha constituency.
Shrikant Shinde has previously organized several programs to motivate party workers and voters during both Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Assembly elections. These efforts contributed significantly to the party’s electoral success, as the Shiv Sena under the leadership of Eknath Shinde secured a strong performance in the Maharashtra Assembly elections following a successful run in the Lok Sabha elections.
The Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde has garnered substantial public trust. In the Lok Sabha elections, seven Shiv Sena candidates from the faction won their seats, while in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, 60 Members of the Legislative Assembly emerged victorious. The party secured 1.563 million more votes than the faction led by Uddhav Thackeray, reflecting a clear mandate from the state’s electorate in favor of Eknath Shinde’s leadership.
In Mumbai, the party contested 11 seats against candidates from the faction led by Uddhav Thackeray. Out of these, six seats were won by the Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde, further strengthening the party’s presence in the region. The Shiv Sena has always shared a deep emotional bond with the Mumbai civic body, as voters in the city have historically supported the party by electing its candidates for the mayoral position.
With the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, the Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde aims to reclaim the civic body by ensuring a victory for the Mahayuti alliance, which includes the Bharatiya Janata Party and other partners. The party has vowed to once again hoist the saffron flag over the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and elect a mayor from the Mahayuti coalition. Keeping this goal in mind, Shrikant Shinde is embarking on the Shiv Samvad Yatra, aimed at mobilizing party support ahead of the elections.
The strategy follows a pattern seen in previous elections, where similar outreach campaigns helped the faction led by Eknath Shinde secure favorable results. With the upcoming municipal elections seen as a crucial test, the party is intensifying its groundwork to consolidate its voter base and ensure electoral success in Mumbai.
