In a recent senior-level bureaucratic reshuffle, the Centre has appointed Rahul Singh as the new Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Singh, a seasoned 1996-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Bihar cadre, will succeed Nidhi Chhibber in this key role.
The decision, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), marks a significant transition in the leadership of one of the country’s premier educational bodies. Currently serving as the Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Singh brings with him a wealth of administrative experience and a deep understanding of the intricacies of the education sector.
Meanwhile, Nidhi Chhibber, the outgoing Chairperson of CBSE, has been appointed as Advisor in the Niti Aayog. Her tenure in this new role will witness her serving at the rank and pay of Additional Secretary, following the temporary upgrading of the post.
Further, as part of the bureaucratic reshuffle, A P Das Joshi, a seasoned 1994-batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, will assume the role of Additional Secretary, DoPT, replacing Rahul Singh.
Moreover , Rajeev Kumar Mital, currently serving as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Department of Atomic Energy, has been appointed as the Director General of the National Mission for Clean Ganga under the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
Additionally, Gyanesh Bharti is set to take charge as the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Women and Child Development, while Deepak Narain will assume the role of Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
