In a concerning escalation of terror incidents, Jammu & Kashmir’s Doda district faced its second attack in as many days when terrorists fired upon a security patrol party on Wednesday evening. The encounter took place in the densely forested Kota Top area of Bhalesa village, where a policeman named Constable Fareed Ahmed sustained injuries. He is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital.
This incident marks the fourth terror attack in the region within three days, highlighting a surge in militant activities. The gunfight, which began around 7:40 pm, prompted authorities to deploy reinforcements to bolster search and cordon operations aimed at neutralizing the terrorists.
The Jammu & Kashmir Police have released sketches of four suspects believed to be involved in the recent attacks in Doda district. A substantial reward of Rs 20 lakh has been announced for any information leading to their capture, with an additional Rs 5 lakh for details on each individual.
Earlier, on Tuesday evening, five soldiers of Rashtriya Rifles and a special police officer sustained injuries in an attack on a joint checkpost at Chattergalla in Doda. The Kashmir Tigers, linked to the proscribed Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit, claimed responsibility for this assault.
Prior to these incidents, security forces engaged in an overnight encounter in Kathua district where a suspected Pakistani terrorist was killed, and another militant was neutralized the following morning. Unfortunately, a paramilitary soldier lost his life during this operation.
Among the recent attacks, the most tragic occurred on June 9 when terrorists targeted a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi district, resulting in ten fatalities and injuring 41 others. Authorities have released a sketch of one of the attackers involved in this deadly assault, offering a reward for information leading to his arrest.
The spate of attacks underscores the ongoing security challenges in Jammu & Kashmir, with authorities intensifying efforts to combat terrorism and ensure public safety amidst heightened tensions.
