Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, took a firm stance on the escalating crisis in the Gaza Strip during a panel discussion titled “Towards Stability and Peace in the Middle East: De-escalation Challenge” at the Munich Security Conference 2024.
In his remarks, Prince Faisal emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza, highlighting the dire humanitarian situation unfolding in the region as a top priority. He called for the immediate withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Gaza and urged for increased access to humanitarian aid for its residents.
The Saudi Foreign Minister reiterated the Kingdom’s support for the establishment of a Palestinian state as a crucial step towards achieving lasting security and stability in the region. He urged the international community to prioritize efforts towards this goal.
Prince Faisal underscored the significance of discussions between Saudi Arabia and the United States concerning the Palestinian cause, stressing the pressing need to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and find a sustainable solution to the ongoing conflict.
Furthermore, Prince Faisal condemned the provocations by Israeli occupation forces, highlighting their detrimental impact on the Arab and Islamic nations. He expressed grave concern over the rising death toll and the plight of thousands of civilians, including orphaned children, as a result of the crisis.
The Saudi Foreign Minister highlighted the severe humanitarian consequences of the crisis, including shortages in essential supplies such as food, water, and medicine. He warned that Israeli provocations risk fueling terrorism and extremism globally.
