Sarah Johnson Conway Named Senior Vice President for the Office of Johns Hopkins Physicians and Physician Group Practice

Newswise — Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM) has announced the appointment of Sarah Johnson Conway, M.D., as the new Johns Hopkins Medicine and Johns Hopkins Health System senior vice president for the Office of Johns Hopkins Physicians (OJHP) and Physician Group Practice. Conway has served in this role on an interim basis since November 2023 and will now lead these efforts in a permanent capacity.

“Widely respected for her collaborative leadership, strategic insight into physician alignment, expertise in value-based care and strong commitment to community health, Conway’s broad experience across both the clinical and operational spheres uniquely positions her to lead our physician enterprise into the future,” says Kevin Sowers, M.S.N., R.N., F.A.A.N., president of the Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine. In partnership with Rick Redett, M.D., physician-in-chief of Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM), and President Sowers, Conway will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of JHM’s clinical practice across employed and affiliated physicians. She will directly oversee all JHHS physician entities including Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, Johns Hopkins Regional Physicians, Johns Hopkins Personalized Care and Johns Hopkins Clinical Alliance, and will collaborate closely with the JHM physician-in-chief with regard to the faculty practice plan. In addition, Conway will serve as president of the Johns Hopkins Medical Management Corporation.Conway brings a rare combination of clinical experience and financial acumen to this role. A cum laude graduate of Harvard University with a degree in economics, she began her career as an investment banking analyst at Goldman Sachs before earning her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her internal medicine residency in the Osler program at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and subsequently completed a health systems management fellowship before joining the faculty full-time as an assistant professor of medicine. Since then, she has been a dedicated hospitalist at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, and also serves as program director for the Health Systems Management Fellowship.Across Johns Hopkins Medicine, Conway has successfully led several care delivery initiatives. She launched the clinically integrated network and serves as its chief medical officer, and she is the inaugural president of Johns Hopkins Personalized Care. She contributed to regional expansion efforts, leading multiple practice integrations and helping advance our growth into Northern Virginia.

Conway is a graduate of the Carol Emmott Fellowship, a national program dedicated to advancing women in health leadership, and she was recently recognized as a Rising Star by both Modern Healthcare and Becker’s Hospital Review.
