Chandauli (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 27 (ANI): Reacting sharply to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s accusations that the BJP is stealing the reservations of backward class, Dalits and tribals, Uttar Pradesh BJP President Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary said SP and INDI alliance leaders are always promoting religion-based reservations.

Hitting out at SP and INDI alliance, Chaudhary said, “The leaders of Samajwadi Party and INDI alliance always talked about Muslim quota and they are promoting religion-based reservations wherever they form the government.”

“When the election results come on June 4, you will not find Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi here. They will go to Bangkok or Thailand for vacation,” he further said.

Speaking on the performance of the BJP in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, Chaudhary said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP is moving towards winning all the seats in Uttar Pradesh… BJP is winning all 80 seats. We will move ahead with the resolution of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a developed nation.”

Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP of stealing the reservations of backward class, Dalits, and tribes, adding that after June 4, politics of “negativity” will be over.

“They (BJP) stole the reservation of backward class, Dalits and tribes…The ‘P’ in PDA means Purvanchal, progressive; NDA is negative…They do negative politics….The time of doing negative politics is over…They are against social justice, reservation, caste census, the happiness of farmers….They not only want to take the nation backward but also put the people of the country in poverty,” Akhilesh Yadav told reporters.

Uttar Pradesh is voting in all seven phases of the Lok Sabha polls, the last phase of which is scheduled on June 1. The Congress is fighting the polls in partnership with the Samajwadi Party in the state and have a seat-sharing agreement with each other.

As per the seat agreement between the Samajwadi Party and Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Congress is contesting on 17 seats and the Samajwadi Party has the remaining 63 seats in the electorally crucial state.

In the 2019 general elections, the BJP emerged triumphant, securing 62 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, supplemented by two seats clinched by its ally Apna Dal (S). Mayawati’s BSP managed to secure 10 seats, while Akhilesh Yadav’s SP garnered five. Conversely, the Congress party secured only one seat.

The election for 543 Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven phases starting April 19. The counting of the votes will be held on June 4. (ANI)
