  • Putin refuses to discuss killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei.
  • Offers to mediate peaceful nuclear deal respecting Israel’s security.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has firmly rejected the idea of discussing any plan involving the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, emphasizing the delicacy of the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict and expressing hope for a peaceful resolution. Speaking at an international media roundtable, Vladimir Putin offered Moscow’s assistance in mediating a diplomatic solution that would allow Iran to continue its peaceful nuclear program while addressing Israel’s security concerns. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump dismissed Putin’s offer to mediate, urging the Russian leader to focus on resolving Russia’s conflict with Ukraine first.

Vladimir Putin’s Rejection of Assassination Talk and Mediation Proposal

Vladimir Putin made clear his disinterest in entertaining discussions about any potential US or Israeli plan to kill Iran’s Supreme Leader, calling it a topic he “does not even want to discuss.” This stance reflects the sensitivity surrounding the issue and the broader conflict between the two nuclear-armed nations, which has seen escalating missile and drone strikes over the past week.

Speaking to senior international news executives, Vladimir Putin acknowledged the strong societal support within Iran for its political leadership amidst the crisis. He described the situation as “delicate” and emphasized the need for cautious handling. Yet, he expressed optimism that a solution accommodating the core interests of both Iran and Israel could be found through dialogue.

Vladimir Putin revealed that Russia has already shared proposals with Iran, Israel, and the United States aimed at negotiating a settlement that would balance Iran’s right to pursue a peaceful atomic program with Israel’s legitimate security concerns. He stressed that Moscow’s role is not to impose solutions but to facilitate discussions, leaving final decisions to the political leaders of the involved countries.

US President Donald Trump’s Response to Vladimir Putin’s Mediation Offer

In contrast to Vladimir Putin’s diplomatic outreach, US President Donald Trump publicly rejected the Russian president’s suggestion that Moscow could mediate the Israel-Iran conflict. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Donald Trump bluntly told Vladimir Putin to prioritize resolving Russia’s own ongoing war in Ukraine before attempting to mediate in the Middle East.

Donald Trump recounted a recent conversation with Vladimir Putin, saying he asked the Russian leader to “mediate Russia first” and leave the Israel-Iran issue for later. This exchange highlights the stark differences in approach between the two world leaders amid escalating tensions in multiple global hotspots.

The conflict escalated significantly after Israel launched ‘Operation Rising Lion,’ striking multiple nuclear and military sites across Iran last Friday. Israel justified these attacks by accusing Iran of nearing the development of nuclear weapons, which it views as an existential threat. This military escalation has led to a tense standoff with fears of broader regional destabilization.

While Vladimir Putin advocates for a negotiated settlement, the situation remains volatile, with continued exchanges of attacks and sharp rhetoric between the involved nations. The international community watches closely, hoping for diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.
