Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 15 (ANI): Joining several celebrities, veteran actor Shabana Azmi was spotted exercising her right to vote in the 2026 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections on Thursday.
After casting her vote, Shabana proudly flaunted her inked finger and told reporters, “The right to vote comes with a responsibility.”
Actors like Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Padmini Kolhapure, Salim Khan, Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Aamir Khan were also spotted arriving at their respective polling booths in Mumbai to cast their votes.
Maharashtra went to the polls for 29 municipal corporations, including the prestigious Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), with stakes high for the Thackeray brothers as also BJP-Shiv Sena after the ruling Mahayuti alliance’s stupendous victory in the assembly polls last year.The votes will be counted on Friday.
In the capital city, Mumbai, voting took place in 227 wards, with approximately 1,700 candidates in the fray. A total of 1,03,44,315 citizens were eligible to vote in the BMC polls. (ANI)
