Gautam Buddh Nagar, January 27, 2026:
A joint review meeting of the Member of Parliament Road Safety Committee (MP-RSC) and the District School Transport Safety Committee was held at the Camp Office auditorium in Sector-27, Noida, under the chairmanship of Lok Sabha MP from Gautam Buddh Nagar, Dr Mahesh Sharma. The meeting focused on strengthening road safety mechanisms across the district, reducing road accidents, rectifying black spots, improving emergency response systems and ensuring the safety of school transport vehicles.

The meeting was attended by District Panchayat President Amit Chaudhary, Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh, MP representative Sanjay Bali, District Magistrate Medha Roopam, Additional CEO Noida Satish Pal, DCP Traffic Manisha Singh, Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Manglesh Dubey, ARTO (Administration) Siyaram Verma, ARTO (Enforcement) Udit Narayan Pandey, District Inspector of Schools Rajesh Singh, Basic Education Officer Rahul Pawar, Executive Engineer PWD Kanchan, along with senior officials from Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority, Yamuna Industrial Development Authority and other concerned departments.
The MP directed officials of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Authorities to expedite rectification work at 35 newly identified black spots across the district. He also sought a detailed and factual compliance report within 10 days regarding action taken on 152 high-risk accident hotspots identified in November.
The meeting reviewed ongoing road safety initiatives in the district and analysed accident-related data to identify the key causes of road mishaps. The MP stressed that temporary measures would not suffice and that permanent, practical and effective solutions must be implemented to reduce accidents.

He instructed that all black spot rectification works must strictly follow prescribed road engineering standards. These include scientifically designed speed breakers, reflective warning signage, direction boards, effective traffic signals, proper road markings, adequate street lighting and installation of CCTV cameras. Regular monitoring and physical verification of improvement works at each site were also directed.
Emphasising a comprehensive approach, the MP stated that road safety is not limited to rule enforcement alone. Effective implementation of the 4E Model—Education, Enforcement, Engineering and Emergency Care—is essential to significantly reduce road accidents. He highlighted the importance of emergency lanes on national highways, periodic review of speed limits and strict enforcement of traffic-calming measures.
The ARTO (Enforcement) informed the meeting that a cashless treatment scheme of up to ₹1.5 lakh is being provided to road accident victims in empanelled hospitals. The MP directed officials to ensure wide publicity of the scheme so that citizens can avail timely medical assistance.
School transport safety was another major focus area of the meeting. It was decided that a special drive would be conducted to inspect the fitness of all school vehicles in the district. Mandatory compliance will include installation of CCTV and GPS systems, availability of trained drivers and support staff, regular health check-ups of drivers and adherence to prescribed safety norms.

Discussions were also held on promoting good Samaritans, establishing traffic parks and training centres at municipal and village panchayat levels, and increasing public participation in road safety awareness campaigns. All departments were instructed to ensure 100 percent data upload on the IRAD portal.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all departments assured that the directions issued would be implemented in a timely, coordinated and quality-driven manner.
