Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has claimed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is planning a raid against him following his recent speech on the Union Budget 2024. Rahul Gandhi made these allegations on Friday, stating that “insiders” from the ED have informed him about the impending action.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi remarked, “Apparently, 2 in 1 didn’t like my Chakravyuh speech. ED ‘insiders’ tell me a raid is being planned.” He added with a defiant tone, “Waiting with open arms… chai and biscuits on me.”
The Congress leader’s comments come in the wake of his critical address on July 29, during a discussion on Budget 2024 in the Lok Sabha. In his speech, Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ensnaring Indians in a modern-day “Chakravyuh,” drawing a parallel with the historical military formation described in the Mahabharata.
Rahul Gandhi criticized Modi for prominently displaying the lotus symbol, suggesting that the current political landscape resembles a new “Chakravyuh” or “Padmavyuh,” which he claimed was symbolized by the lotus. He drew historical comparisons, stating that just as Abhimanyu was trapped and killed in the ancient battle formation, modern India is similarly encircled by key figures in the government.
He elaborated, “Thousands of years ago, in Kurukshetra, six people trapped Abhimanyu in a ‘Chakravyuh’ and killed him. I did a little research and found out that ‘Chakravyuh’ is also known as ‘Padmavyuh,’ which means ‘Lotus formation.’ The ‘Chakravyuh’ is in the shape of a Lotus. In the 21st century, a new ‘Chakravyuh’ has been formed—that too in the form of a Lotus. The Prime Minister wears its symbol on his chest. What was done with Abhimanyu is being done with India—the youth, farmers, women, and small and medium businesses. Abhimanyu was killed by six people. Today, too, there are six people in the center of the ‘Chakravyuh’: Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Mohan Bhagwat, Ajit Doval, and Ambani.”
The allegations from Rahul Gandhi come amid heightened political tensions and scrutiny of government actions. The ED’s potential raid has yet to be confirmed, but Rahul Gandhi’s statements reflect ongoing contention between the Congress party and the current administration.
