Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, engaged in discussions with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye, Yasin Ekrem Serim, and Deputy Minister of Interior of Turkiye, Munir Karaloglu, during the 3rd Antalya Diplomacy Forum on Thursday.
The meeting focused on addressing the pressing humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. Specifically, they deliberated on the dire conditions in Gaza and the urgent need to facilitate the entry of relief aid into the region.
Emphasizing Qatar’s commitment to prioritizing humanitarian assistance to Gaza, Minister Al Khater underscored the grave violations and collective punishment endured by civilians in the Strip. She highlighted alarming signs of a potential famine in northern Gaza, stemming from the prolonged siege, bombings, and lack of intervention.
Minister Al Khater also mentioned Qatar’s ongoing mediation efforts with partners to secure peace in Gaza, expressing hopes for a ceasefire agreement before Ramadan. She reiterated Qatar’s keenness to bolster cooperation with Turkiye, particularly in development and humanitarian aid initiatives.
In response, Deputy Minister Serim emphasized the imperative of ensuring the timely delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, especially in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement released, the Qatari Foreign Ministry said, “HE the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye stressed the necessity of ensuring the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, especially before and during Ramadan.”
