Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, the Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, reiterated the nation’s unwavering commitment to resolving the conflict in the Gaza Strip and securing the release of hostages. Emphasizing the humanitarian imperative, Dr. Al Ansari underscored Qatar’s dedication to prioritizing the well-being of the affected population amid ongoing negotiations for a new deal.
Speaking at the weekly press briefing, Dr. Al Ansari emphasized Qatar’s persistent engagement with all relevant parties, despite recent statements from Israel. He denounced these statements as opportunistic attempts to exploit internal political agendas, emphasizing their disconnect from the urgent need to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and secure the release of hostages.
Expressing deep concern for the dire situation facing the Palestinian population in northern Gaza, Dr. Al Ansari highlighted the severe shortages of essential resources such as water, food, electricity, and medicine. Qatar continues to advocate for the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip, given the unprecedented deterioration of the humanitarian situation.
Of particular concern to Qatar is the situation in Rafah, where approximately 1.5 million people reside. Dr. Al Ansari emphasized Qatar’s staunch opposition to any military actions in Rafah, warning of the catastrophic consequences it would have on an already vulnerable population.
In addition to Qatar’s efforts in Gaza, Dr. Al Ansari highlighted the participation of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani at the Munich Security Conference from February 16th to 18th. During the conference, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani held meetings with various world leaders and dignitaries, including King Abdullah II bin Al Husain of Jordan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait Abdullah Al Yahya, and Executive Director of the World Food Programme Cindy McCain, among others.
On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs engaged in discussions with leaders from Oman, Canada, Bulgaria, NATO, Estonia, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) of Germany. These meetings reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to international cooperation and diplomacy in addressing global challenges and fostering peace and stability worldwide.
