Gautam Buddh Nagar, May 6, 2026:
To strengthen welfare initiatives for workers and their families in the district, the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar held an important meeting with representatives of NGOs and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) at the Collectorate auditorium on Tuesday. The meeting focused on improving access to healthcare, skill development, education, and social welfare services for labourers working across the district.

The initiative was organised in line with the vision of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to improve the living standards, safety, and social security of workers employed in industrial and urban sectors.

During the meeting, officials discussed coordinated efforts required between the administration, NGOs, RWAs, and other organisations to ensure that workers and their families receive better healthcare facilities, quality education, and opportunities for skill enhancement.

Addressing the gathering, the District Magistrate stated that Gautam Buddh Nagar is widely regarded as the economic capital of Uttar Pradesh due to its large industrial presence and rapidly growing urban infrastructure. Thousands of industrial units operate in the district, employing lakhs of workers across various sectors.

The District Magistrate emphasized that the administration is already working systematically on issues related to worker housing, healthcare, skill development, social security, and education for workers’ children. However, greater collaboration with NGOs and RWAs is essential to ensure that welfare schemes effectively reach eligible beneficiaries.

Officials highlighted that NGOs can play a crucial role in identifying the needs of workers, conducting awareness programmes, facilitating health camps, supporting skill development initiatives, and helping children from labour families access educational opportunities.

The District Magistrate urged all NGOs and RWA representatives present at the meeting to actively participate in welfare activities related to healthcare, education, and vocational training for workers. He said that improving the quality of life of labourers is a collective responsibility and requires active community participation.

Special appreciation was extended to private hospitals and NGOs that had contributed during the recently organised mega health camp held on Labour Day. Authorities stated that such initiatives help bring meaningful and positive changes in society by making essential healthcare services accessible to workers.

The administration also encouraged other organisations to come forward and support similar public welfare programmes in the future. Officials stressed that increasing participation from civil society organisations would help expand the reach and effectiveness of welfare schemes.

During the meeting, instructions were issued to the District Employment Officer to compile a detailed list of welfare schemes and programmes being run by the central and state governments. This information will be shared with NGOs and related organisations so that awareness about these schemes can reach a larger number of eligible workers.

Authorities explained that many workers remain unaware of various government initiatives related to healthcare, insurance, employment, education, and social security. Better coordination and information sharing would therefore help ensure greater public participation and utilisation of available benefits.

The District Magistrate stated that meaningful improvement in workers’ lives can only be achieved through joint efforts by the administration, NGOs, RWAs, and social organisations. He called upon all stakeholders to contribute actively toward improving living conditions and ensuring inclusive development in the district.

The meeting was attended by Chief Development Officer Shivakant Dwivedi, Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Atul Kumar, District Employment Officer Manisha Atri, Deputy Commissioner Industries Pankaj Nirwan, District Basic Education Officer Rahul Pawar, Assistant Labour Commissioner Suyash Pandey, along with officials from various departments and representatives of NGOs and RWAs.

Officials expressed confidence that stronger collaboration between government departments and social organisations would help improve access to welfare services and create better opportunities for workers and their families across Gautam Buddh Nagar.
