Prince Harry is reportedly preparing to make a return to the United Kingdom next month to mark a significant milestone for the Invictus Games, according to CNN reports.
Scheduled for May 8th, Prince Harry will participate in a ceremony at London’s St Paul’s Cathedral commemorating the ten-year anniversary of the Invictus Games, the sporting event he founded. This visit comes after his last trip to the UK in February, which occurred following the announcement of his father King Charles’ cancer diagnosis.
While in the UK, Prince Harry expressed appreciation for the opportunity to spend time with his family during challenging circumstances. However, it remains uncertain whether he will have the chance to meet with relatives during his upcoming visit.
Since relocating to the United States with his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, in 2020, Prince Harry has made occasional visits to the UK, including attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022 and his father’s coronation last year.
While there is uncertainty regarding Meghan’s attendance at the Invictus celebration, the proximity of their son Prince Archie’s fifth birthday on May 6th may affect her participation.
In other royal news, Buckingham Palace has announced that King Charles, currently undergoing treatment, will soon resume public duties. His schedule will be carefully managed in consultation with medical professionals. King Charles is expected to welcome Japan’s Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako for a state visit in June.
The Invictus Games, established by Prince Harry after his military service in Afghanistan, serve as a platform for supporting the recovery of wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans. The next edition of the games is scheduled to take place in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada, in February 2025, featuring over 500 competitors from 20 nations participating in adaptive sports, including winter sports for the first time in partnership with First Nations communities as part of efforts towards truth and reconciliation.
