The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has extended the registration deadline for the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme, giving eligible candidates until November 15 to apply. This initiative aims to support the career development of young professionals by offering a diverse array of internship opportunities. Candidates can apply through the official portal, pminternship.mca.gov.in. The program, expected to benefit 10 million young people over the next five years, offers a structured pathway for skill enhancement in various fields, addressing the need for hands-on industry exposure among India’s youth.
Eligible individuals can apply for internships in one of 24 sectors, with prestigious companies such as Mahindra & Mahindra, L&T, Tata Group, and Jubilant FoodWorks participating in the scheme. A total of 80,000 positions are open for 2024, with applications available for up to five internships per candidate, based on preferences including location, sector, and educational qualifications.
The application process is straightforward and accessible online. Applicants should visit the official portal, pminternship.mca.gov.in, and select the “Register” option, where they will enter personal details. Once submitted, the system generates a resume based on the input, which candidates can use to apply to up to five internship opportunities, carefully choosing preferences based on their location, qualifications, and sectoral interests. After completing the application, candidates are encouraged to download a confirmation page for future reference.
Interns selected under this scheme will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000, funded through a unique public-private collaboration. Of this stipend, Rs 500 is provided by the host company through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, while the government contributes the remaining Rs 4,500. This financial support is designed to make the internships more accessible and sustainable for young candidates. The scheme also integrates India’s reservation policies, ensuring equitable representation for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC).
To be eligible for the PM Internship Scheme 2024, candidates must be between the ages of 21 and 24, have completed high school or higher secondary school, and hold qualifications such as an ITI certificate, a diploma from a Polytechnic Institute, or a degree like BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BBA, or B Pharma.
The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme 2024 presents a significant opportunity for skill development, industry experience, and career progression for young Indians. With the extended registration deadline, aspiring candidates now have additional time to submit their applications and take a step toward building a promising career.
