Preity Zinta, Bollywood actress and co-owner of the IPL team Punjab Kings, has initiated legal proceedings against her fellow co-directors Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia. The dispute centers around an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on April 21, which Preity Zinta claims was conducted without following proper legal procedures. Despite attending the meeting, Preity Zinta is challenging its validity and is seeking the court’s intervention to halt decisions made during the session and restrict future meetings without her and Karan Paul’s presence.

Disputed Meeting and Legal Challenge

The conflict arose when Preity Zinta alleged that the EGM was convened in violation of the Companies Act, 2013, and secretarial regulations. She had formally objected to the meeting in an email dated April 10, but her objections were disregarded. The meeting reportedly proceeded with the backing of Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia, which led to significant disagreements among the directors. One of the primary points of contention was the appointment of Muneesh Khanna as a director—a decision opposed by both Preity Zinta and fellow director Karan Paul.

In her legal suit filed in a Chandigarh court, Preity Zinta has asked the judiciary to declare the April 21 meeting invalid. She has also sought an injunction preventing Khanna from functioning as a director and stopping the company from implementing any resolutions passed during the meeting. Additionally, she has requested the court to bar the company from holding any further board or general meetings unless both she and Karan Paul are present and Muneesh Khanna is excluded, at least until the dispute is resolved.

Punjab Kings’ Performance Amidst Legal Turmoil

Despite the ongoing legal battle among the team’s ownership, Preity Zinta has been a visible supporter of Punjab Kings during the 2025 IPL season. The team, under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, has been performing strongly, securing a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2014. With 17 points from 12 matches, Punjab Kings currently hold third place in the standings, aiming to finish in the top two. Their upcoming matches include games against Delhi Capitals in Jaipur and Mumbai Indians, which will be crucial for solidifying their playoff position.

This off-field dispute highlights the complex dynamics within the Punjab Kings’ ownership group but has so far not impacted the team’s on-field performance and fan support.
