Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his two-day visit to Gujarat, his home state, with plans to inaugurate development projects worth Rs 82,000 crore. During his visit, PM Modi will launch multiple infrastructure and railway initiatives aimed at improving regional connectivity, supporting tourism, and accelerating economic growth in the state. The visit will also feature the unveiling of two new train services, including a Vande Bharat Express, and significant investments in water supply, housing, and urban development.
New Train Services and Railway Developments
On Monday, PM Modi will inaugurate two new trains remotely from Dahod via video conferencing. These include the Sabarmati-Veraval Vande Bharat Express and the Valsad-Dahod Express. The Sabarmati-Veraval train, with eight coaches, will serve pilgrims and tourists traveling to the renowned Somnath temple, operating six days a week except Thursdays. The Valsad-Dahod Express will run daily, covering 346 kilometers with 17 coaches and stopping at 12 stations, enhancing daily commuting options in the region.
In addition to launching these trains, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Loco Manufacturing Shop and Rolling Stock Workshop in Dahod. This facility, established under the Make in India initiative at a cost of over Rs 21,000 crore, represents a major step in boosting local manufacturing capabilities. PM Modi will also flag off an electric locomotive from the Dahod plant, showcasing the state’s growing contribution to India’s rail infrastructure.
Infrastructure, Water Supply, and Urban Development Projects
After Dahod, PM Modi will proceed to Bhuj, where he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects valued at over Rs 53,000 crore. These projects include infrastructure upgrades at Kandla Port, solar energy plants, power transmission lines, and road construction. The development efforts will benefit districts like Kutch, Jamnagar, Amreli, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Ahmedabad, Tapi, and Mahisagar.
A notable focus will be on water supply improvements through four drinking water schemes costing Rs 181 crore, designed to provide clean water at 100 liters per capita per day to over 4.62 lakh people across 193 villages and one town in Mahisagar and Dahod.
PM Modi will also hold public rallies in Dahod and Bhuj and participate in roadshows in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, engaging with thousands of BJP workers and citizens. During the visit, he will inaugurate over 22,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and initiate Phase-3 of the Sabarmati Riverfront development, alongside disbursing Rs 3,300 crore in cheques to urban local bodies under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana.
