Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Mumbai on Saturday, where he will inaugurate several significant development projects, including the much-anticipated Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Mumbai Metro Line 3, the city’s first fully underground metro line. The inauguration marks a vital milestone in enhancing urban transport and connectivity in the bustling metropolis.
During the visit, PM Modi will inaugurate and conduct a Bhoomipujan ceremony for additional projects across Mumbai. The initial phase of the Mumbai Metro Line 3, which spans 12.69 kilometers between Aarey JVLR and the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), will be partially opened. The event will see the participation of various dignitaries, including Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.
The Prime Minister will arrive at the BKC metro station for the flagging-off ceremony of Line 3, taking a ride from BKC to Santacruz metro station. During this journey, he is expected to interact with beneficiaries of the Laadki Bahin initiative, students, and workers on board the train, fostering a sense of community involvement in this landmark project.
To enhance the commuting experience for Mumbaikars, PM Narendra Modi will launch a mobile app called MetroConnect3, which will offer modern features tailored to improve travel. Additionally, he will unveil a coffee table book documenting the development journey of Mumbai’s underground metro, showcasing captivating visuals that narrate the project’s progress.
In line with his commitment to support farmers, PM Narendra Modi will disburse the 18th installment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi, amounting to approximately ₹20,000 crore, benefitting around 9.4 crore farmers. This installment will elevate the total funds disbursed under PM-KISAN to about ₹3.45 lakh crore.
Moreover, the Prime Minister will launch the fifth installment of the NaMo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana, providing around ₹2,000 crore to farmers. He will also dedicate over 7,500 projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), valued at more than ₹1,920 crore, which will include essential agricultural facilities such as warehouses and cold storage units.
Further initiatives include the inauguration of 9,200 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) with a collective turnover of around ₹1,300 crore and the launch of advanced cattle genomic technology.
PM Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for critical infrastructure projects, including the Elevated Eastern Freeway Extension from Chheda Nagar to Anand Nagar, Thane, worth approximately ₹3,310 crore, ensuring better connectivity from South Mumbai to Thane. He will also initiate Phase-1 of the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) project, valued at about ₹2,550 crore.
Finally, the Prime Minister will lay the groundwork for a new administrative building for the Thane Municipal Corporation, with an estimated cost of ₹700 crore, aimed at centralizing municipal operations for enhanced public service delivery.
