In a heartfelt message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his and the people of India’s wishes for the rapid recovery and good health of His Majesty King Charles III. The message was in response to an announcement by the Royal Family regarding King Charles III’s diagnosis of a form of cancer.
The Prime Minister took to social media platform X, to express his sentiments, saying, “I join the people of India in wishing speedy recovery and good health to His Majesty King Charles III.”
Buckingham Palace confirmed on Monday that King Charles III, the 75-year-old British monarch, has been diagnosed with a form of cancer and has initiated treatment. While the Palace did not specify the exact type of cancer, it clarified that this diagnosis is unrelated to the recent treatment King Charles III received for a benign prostate condition.
The official statement from the Royal Palace stated, “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.” As advised by doctors, King Charles III will temporarily postpone his public-facing duties but will continue to fulfill his State obligations and official paperwork during his treatment.
The statement continued, “The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”
News of King Charles III’s health condition prompted an outpouring of well-wishes from various leaders. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, and Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle extended their support and good wishes. Additionally, US President Joe Biden expressed his concern and announced his intention to speak with King Charles III. In a subsequent post on [Social Media Platform X], President Biden said, “Navigating a cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship takes hope and absolute courage. Jill and I join the people of the United Kingdom in praying that His Majesty experiences a swift and full recovery.”
It is worth noting that King Charles III assumed the throne following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September 2022, with his coronation taking place the subsequent May.
