Prime Minister Narendra Modi met US President Joe Biden in Italy on the sidelines of the G7 Summit on Friday night, emphasizing ongoing cooperation between India and the US to advance global welfare.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, PM Modi expressed his pleasure at the meeting and reiterated the commitment to work together with President Biden.
“It’s always a pleasure to meet @POTUS @JoeBiden. India and USA will keep working together to further global good,” PM Modi said on X.
Earlier, PM Modi engaged in discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron, focusing on strengthening the strategic partnership between India and France. President Macron highlighted the positive momentum in bilateral relations across energy, defence, research, and cultural sectors.
“At the G7, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and I discussed the main issues of the strategic partnership that unites India and France, in the fields of energy, defence, research, and culture, and I must say: what momentum!” French President Macron commented in a social media post.
Defence collaboration was a key topic during the meeting, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to enhancing bilateral defence cooperation. They also celebrated the cultural ties between India and France.
PM Modi’s meeting with President Macron marked their fourth interaction in a year, during which they explored avenues to promote innovation and research among the youth.
On the sidelines of the G7 Summit, PM Modi also met with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
India is participating in the Group of Seven (G7) Summit as an outreach country. The summit is being held at the luxurious Borgo Egnazia resort in Italy’s Apulia region from June 13-15, with PM Modi attending at the invitation of Italian PM Giorgia Meloni.
