The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the final answer key for the Common University Entrance Test, Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2024. The much-anticipated results for the undergraduate entrance examination are expected to be announced within the next 24 to 48 hours.
Candidates who took the CUET UG exam and had objections to the provisional answer key can now review the final answer key on the official NTA website. Originally scheduled for June 30, the release of CUET UG results was postponed due to issues related to paper leak allegations involving NEET-UG, UGC-NET, and CSIR-UGC-NET.
The CUET UG examination, which took place in a hybrid mode (both Computer-Based Test and Pen & Paper), was conducted on May 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, 24, and 29 across 379 cities, including 26 international locations. Approximately 13 lakh candidates participated in this year’s exam. The provisional answer key was made available on July 6, following which some candidates raised objections. To address these concerns, a retest was conducted for around 1,000 students on July 19, and a revised provisional answer key was issued on July 22.
The CUET UG exam covered 61 subjects, including 33 languages, 27 domain subjects, and a general test. Candidates were permitted to attempt up to six test papers, which could include a combination of domain subjects and language papers, along with a general test. Correct answers were awarded five marks each, while one mark was deducted for incorrect answers. Unanswered questions were scored as zero.
This year’s CUET UG exam was unique as it was conducted in a hybrid format nationwide for the first time. The examination in Delhi was canceled the night before the scheduled date due to “logistical reasons” but was later rescheduled.
The NTA had previously announced that the third edition of CUET UG would be completed within seven days and that no normalization of scores would occur, as all exams were conducted in a single shift. Of the 61 subjects tested, 15 were in the pen-and-paper format, while 48 were conducted via Computer-Based Testing (CBT). This year, over 13.4 lakh candidates registered for the test, which is used for admission to undergraduate courses in 261 central, state, deemed, and private universities.
