Day after the Russia-Ukraine crisis surfaced during discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Modi held extensive phone conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday.
The discussions covered a wide array of subjects, with significant emphasis on the Ukrainian Peace Formula.Taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share insights from the discussions, PM Modi said, “Had a good conversation with President Zelenskyy on strengthening the India-Ukraine partnership.
Furthermore, on the crisis in Ukraine, PM Modi reiterated the call for peace efforts in Ukraine and conveyed India’s consistent support for bringing an early end to the ongoing conflict.”India will continue to provide humanitarian assistance guided by our people-centric approach,” he added.
Elaborating on the Ukrainian President’s remarks, the Ukrainian official release stated, “Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked for the active participation of Indian representatives in meetings at the level of national security and foreign policy advisors and emphasized the importance of India’s participation in the inaugural peace summit, which is being prepared in Switzerland.”It is pertinent to note that PM Modi’s conversation with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy came mere days after he extended greetings to Russian President on his systematic electoral win.
Sharing glimpses of the details of the conversation held between the two, PM Modi said, “Spoke with President Putin and congratulated him on his re-election as the President of the Russian Federation. We agreed to work together to further deepen and expand India-Russia Special & Privileged Strategic Partnership in the years ahead.”
They also discussed multifaceted strategies shared between the two nations with consistent and dynamic development.Furthermore, according to the Kremlin, the two leaders discussed the situation in Ukraine during their talks. However, detailed discussion regarding the same remains unclear.”They affirmed their commitment to coordinating their countries’ actions within multilateral formats, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and BRICS,” the Kremlin added.
