Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], October 4 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Secretary Anil Antony slammed the Pinarayi Vijayan government in Kerala for scams in the cooperative bank sector saying the people’s life’s savings are at risk owing to severe banking irregularities and scams.

“..In the last three months, some shocking revelations have come where in hundreds, thousands of cooperative banks across Kerala tens of thousands, even lakhs of common people who have deposited their life’s savings…now all that is at risk because of severe banking irregularities and scams,” Antony said speaking to ANI on Wednesday.

The BJP is staging a hunger strike in front of the Kandala Cooperative Bank to protest against scams in the cooperative banking sector on Wednesday.

“Across Kerala from Kasaragod to Trivandrum there are many areas…where people’s deposit is in danger. Many people have already lost their deposit. We already know several cases of people committing suicide because they have lost their life savings,” Antony said.

Assuring that the BJP will always stand by the people, Antony said, “So in this dire scenario, the Bharatiya Janata Party will be on the ground. We will be fighting in every district, every bank to ensure that people get their deposits back, to ensure that justice is given to these people and to ensure that the perpetrators those who are responsible for these irregularities and scams, those corrupt, mainly people from the CPM and the Congress are brought to justice.”

Lambasting the CPIM government in Kerala, Antony said, “Ever since the Pinarayi Vijayan-led government came to the state, the only two things that have grown in Kerala are corruption and a lot of communalism which is instigated by the Communist Party to hide their corruption.”

Commenting on the alleged rampant corruption in the state, the BJP leader said, “We saw in the last two or three years when during the pandemic there was a scam where kits were procured and during Onam, there was a scam where Onam kits were procured. During recruitment drives in the PSC, there was another massive scam…”

Anil Antony said that the Communist Party government is indulging in a blame game just to hide its own inefficiency.

“Now as things have gone out of hand after hundreds of banks are in danger of being shut down, they are blaming everybody else except themselves to mask their own inefficiency,” Antony said.

“There are stringent regulations by the RBI which say how money can be lent, how deposits can be taken. All the cooperative banks across Kerala, in thousands of banks, all these norms of the RBI were broken and this was done in the knowledge of the Communist government,” he claimed. (ANI)
