Pawan Kalyan’s younger son, Mark Shankar, suffered burn injuries and smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at his school in Singapore on Tuesday morning. The eight-year-old is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital, as the Jana Sena Party confirmed via social media. The news has prompted concern among supporters, with party leaders advising Pawan Kalyan to cut short his ongoing tour in Andhra Pradesh.
According to a post by the Jana Sena Party on X (formerly Twitter), the fire incident occurred in the morning hours at the school premises in Singapore under mysterious circumstances. The blaze reportedly injured Mark Shankar’s hands and legs and caused respiratory issues due to smoke inhalation. The child was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention.
The party’s post read, “Mark Shankar, the younger son of Mr. Pawan Kalyan who was caught in a fire at school. Injuries to arms and legs… Treatment in hospital.” Born on October 10, 2017, Mark is currently eight years old and pursuing his early education in Singapore.
At the time of the incident, Pawan Kalyan, who recently took oath as Andhra Pradesh’s deputy chief minister, was touring the Alluri Sitarama Raju district for official developmental programmes. Upon receiving the news of his son’s injury, party leaders and aides suggested he shorten his trip and head to Singapore at the earliest.
A senior party official stated that Pawan Kalyan intends to complete his scheduled programmes in the region before flying out from Visakhapatnam to Singapore. His presence in the state has been part of a larger effort to oversee the implementation of new initiatives following his party’s alliance with the ruling coalition.
The Jana Sena Party has not released further details on the extent of the injuries or the cause of the fire, though more updates are expected as the situation develops. The incident has sparked an outpouring of support and prayers for the child’s recovery on social media.
