Paddlers Sreeja Akula and Manika Batra have emerged as India’s top-seeded players for the table tennis events at the Paris 2024 Olympics, scheduled to commence on July 27. The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) released the seedings on Tuesday, positioning Akula at 16th and Batra closely behind at 18th in the women’s singles category.

Sreeja Akula, 25, recently achieved a career-high ranking of 24 globally, securing her status as India’s leading women’s singles player. Her impressive performance includes clinching the WTT Contender singles title and the mixed doubles title alongside veteran Archana Kamath. Meanwhile, Manika Batra, ranked 28th worldwide, holds the 26th seeding, maintaining a strong presence in international table tennis.
Men’s Seeding and Debutants
In the men’s singles, veteran Sharath Kamal, a two-time Commonwealth Games champion, is seeded 24th, while Harmeet Desai, making his Olympic debut ranked 86th globally, is seeded 49th. Both players bring extensive experience to the Indian contingent, with Kamal achieving his best Olympic performance at Tokyo 2020.
