  • India intercepts 300-400 Pakistani drones targeting major cities.

In a dramatic escalation of hostilities, Pakistan launched hundreds of drones and missiles towards various Indian cities, but India’s advanced air defence systems successfully intercepted and destroyed these threats. The operation, which involved the S-400 Sudarshan Chakra and Akash missile systems, prevented a major catastrophe, and debris from the drones and missiles was scattered across different regions of India. The incident highlights Pakistan’s continued aggressive actions along the international border.

Drone and Missile Debris Found in Several Locations

Pakistani drones and missiles were detected at multiple locations across India, creating a chaotic scene in various regions. In Haryana’s Sirsa, a Fatah-2 missile aimed at New Delhi was intercepted in mid-air. The debris from the missile was recovered from the area, further confirming the thwarted attack on the national capital. Meanwhile, in Jalandhar, Punjab, residents reported a loud explosion after a drone crashed in Kanganiwal village. Surjeet Kaur, a local resident, described seeing a red flash followed by a massive blast near her home.

In Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer, missile debris was found in Mangliyo Ki Dhani around 4:10 am on Saturday. The object fell with a loud explosion and caught fire, causing the ground to turn white after the flames subsided. Villagers quickly alerted local authorities. Additionally, Bathinda and Amritsar in Punjab reported missile debris, with residents hearing explosions as Indian air defence systems shot down several Pakistani missiles.

Other Affected Locations and Pakistani Drone Sightings

In Hoshiarpur, a missile was found in the hilly Kamahi Devi area, prompting a swift police response. Pakistan’s drones were also sighted in 26 locations along the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC), including Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Jammu, and Lakhi Nala. One drone targeted a civilian area in Ferozpur, causing multiple injuries to a local family. Despite repeated attempts to target Indian infrastructure, India’s air defence systems successfully intercepted most of the threats.

India’s defence capabilities include an array of advanced systems, such as the S-400 Triumf system, Akash-NG missile, and the Barak 8 system developed in collaboration with Israel. These systems offer comprehensive protection against both medium and long-range threats, significantly enhancing India’s ability to defend against aerial assaults.

List of Affected Airports

In response to the growing threat, Pakistan temporarily closed several major airports to safeguard its airspace. The affected airports included Islamabad International Airport, Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, Sialkot International Airport, Peshawar’s Bacha Khan International Airport, and Quetta International Airport. These closures reflect the heightened security measures taken to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
