Baltimore-based Pakistani American businessman Sajid Tarar expressed admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that PM Modi’s leadership has elevated India to new heights and predicting his return for a third term as India’s Prime Minister.
Sajid Tarar, well-connected with the ruling Pakistani establishment, emphasized PM Modi’s significance not only for India but also for the wider region and the world, expressing hope for Pakistan to also have a leader of similar caliber.
“Modi is a remarkable leader. He’s a natural-born leader. He is the one prime minister who has visited Pakistan in adverse circumstances and risked his political capital. I’m expecting that Modi ji will start dialogue and trade with Pakistan,” Sajid Tarar remarked.
Highlighting India’s vibrant democracy and the surge in PM Modi’s popularity, Sajid Tarar underscored the country’s democratic prowess, envisioning India’s rise in 2024 as a significant narrative that others would learn from.
In contrast, Sajid Tarar lamented Pakistan’s economic crisis and social unrest, particularly evident in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), attributing protests there to soaring electricity bills and economic woes.
“Pakistan is going through an economic crisis. Inflation is high. Petrol prices are high. The IMF wants to increase taxes. Electricity costs have gone up. We are not able to export,” Sajid Tarar remarked, questioning the feasibility of Pakistan’s financial aid initiatives amidst financial instability.
He criticized the Pakistani government’s lack of focus on addressing fundamental issues such as increasing exports and combating terrorism, advocating for transformative leadership to navigate Pakistan away from its current challenges.
Sajid Tarar also highlighted India’s advantage in harnessing its youthful demographic for economic growth.
