WTO members, observer organizations and the WTO Secretariat marked the 30th anniversary of the Agreement on Rules of Origin on 4 April by highlighting the importance of the Committee in ensuring transparency and certainty in global trade. Growing challenges such as the complexity and diversity in rules of origin, digital trade and artificial intelligence, as well as continued work on preferential rules of origin for least developed countries (LDCs), make the work of the WTO’s Committee on Rules of Origin (CRO) more relevant than ever, they said.
