The focal point of the consultations revolved around concerted efforts aimed at containing and de-escalating tensions in the region, particularly in light of the recent Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip. Both ministers underscored the urgent necessity of securing a ceasefire to facilitate the uninterrupted delivery of essential humanitarian aid to the affected population.
Drawing attention to the resolution adopted during the emergency meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, both ministers emphasized the imperative for unified action by Muslim nations to swiftly halt what they termed as the Israeli regime’s genocidal actions. Furthermore, they stressed the urgency of dispatching substantial humanitarian assistance to Gaza to address the pressing humanitarian crisis.
Amir Abdollahian during the discussion also voiced criticism against the United States’ inconsistent behavior and its purported violation of commitments in ongoing negotiations concerning the removal of sanctions. He expressed appreciation for the steadfast efforts and proactive initiatives undertaken by the Sultan of Oman in advancing these negotiations.
Both ministers reiterated their unwavering solidarity with the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, emphasizing the importance of achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region. Moreover, as tensions persist in the region, diplomatic engagements are being seen as crucial avenues for fostering cooperation and resolving conflicts through dialogue and mutual understanding.
