In preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympics, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has introduced rigorous protocols for shooters set to represent the nation, aiming to optimize their performance at the prestigious quadrennial event. Among the measures outlined in the “NRAI Olympic Team Undertaking and SOP for Paris 2024 Olympic Games – Pistol/Rifle Teams,” shooters are prohibited from engaging personal coaches during national camps and are subject to a designated “media blackout” period to maintain focus and discipline.
The NRAI’s directives emphasize the importance of a structured and disciplined training regimen to ensure peak performance by Indian shooters at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The guidelines stipulate that only NRAI-approved personal coaches and sport science consultants, adhering to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), may assist the National Training Team under the leadership of the High Performance Director (HPD) and chief coach.
In adherence to the “Media Blackout” policy, shooters are restricted from engaging with the media during designated blackout periods, except for pre-scheduled media interactions communicated separately. Additionally, the NRAI imposes limitations on shooters’ movements abroad, requiring prior permission from the Chief Coach/HPD or designated personnel for any activities outside the hotel premises.
To maintain a conducive team environment, the presence of parents and personal coaches at camps and competitions is restricted, subject to approval by the HPD and Chief Coach. A strict code of conduct mandates respectful behavior towards teammates, coaches, officials, and competitors, with non-compliance potentially resulting in disciplinary action, including suspension.
NRAI Secretary Rajiv Bhatia was unavailable for comment at the time of publication.
These stringent measures underscore the NRAI’s commitment to optimizing the performance and readiness of Indian shooters for the Paris 2024 Olympics, prioritizing organizational discipline and focused training.
