Newswise — In a study published in Nature Cancer, researchers at University of California San Diego School of Medicine and UC San Diego Health developed a novel model for prostate cancer screening. Using genetic variants across diverse ancestries, the P-CARE model may be a more effective screening tool, leading to earlier detection for high-risk men and prevent over-screening in low-risk individuals. The model’s efficacy is being tested in a multi-year clinical trial in the national VA health system.
