  • India targets three Pakistani airbases after drone strikes on 26 locations.

India launched an overnight attack on three key Pakistani airbases, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing military conflict. This move came hours after Pakistan’s drone strikes targeted multiple Indian locations. The conflict has resulted in casualties on both sides, further intensifying the situation. Pakistan claims that India struck airbases in Rawalpindi, Chakwal, and Jhang, but the details of these claims remain unverified. Pakistan’s military spokesperson confirmed the attacks during a briefing, adding to the mounting tensions.

Airstrikes and Cross-Border Tensions

India’s military operation targeted three airbases—Nur Khan in Rawalpindi, Murid in Chakwal, and Rafiqui in Jhang. These airbases are crucial to Pakistan’s military operations, and their targeting signifies India’s attempt to cripple Pakistan’s aerial defense capabilities. The confirmation of these attacks came after Pakistan’s Lieutenant General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry’s statement, which was issued during a Saturday morning press briefing. Despite this, Pakistan has not yet provided specific details to back its claims.

As the conflict rages on, retaliatory actions from Pakistan are anticipated. Early Saturday morning, multiple explosions were reported in several cities across Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, Jammu, and Rajouri. Pakistan’s shelling and India’s defense responses have led to civilian casualties. Tragically, Rajouri’s Additional District Development Commissioner, Raj Kumar Thappa, died after his home was hit by a Pakistani shell. His death has added to the rising toll of civilian casualties in the ongoing conflict.

International Calls for De-escalation

Amid the ongoing violence, the international community, including the G7 nations, has called for maximum restraint from both India and Pakistan. They have also urged both countries to engage in direct dialogue to prevent further military escalation. The G7 condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists, in Kashmir. They warned that further violence could destabilize the region and cause significant harm to civilians on both sides.

The situation continues to evolve rapidly. On Saturday morning, Pakistan closed its airspace between 3:15 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. local time. Meanwhile, Indian forces intercepted a missile launched by Pakistan near Sirsa, Haryana, which led to explosions in the area. The missile debris was found near Khaja Khera village. Additionally, India’s Border Security Force responded to unprovoked firing from Pakistan’s posts, destroying a terrorist launch pad in Sialkot. As the situation unfolds, both nations are on high alert, with military actions continuing throughout the region.
