Ever since the NEET UG result came out, there’s been a lot of commotion and people are questioning the National Testing Agency (NTA). Many are even worried about the possibility of the paper being leaked. Let’s look at some of the issues with the result.
Firstly, 67 students have achieved a perfect score of 720 out of 720. This means that even after scoring full marks, many students may not get admission to AIIMS Delhi, which is the dream college for many. Normally, only 1 to 4 students get the All India Rank One, but this time there are 67 students who have achieved this feat, which is quite unusual.
Secondly, out of these 67 students, 6 students had the same roll number sequence. This suggests that these 6 students were sitting together at the same exam center.
Thirdly, the cutoff this time was higher than usual. The NEET cutoff this time was much higher compared to previous years.
Fourthly, many students scored 719 and 718 marks. This is unusual because if a student leaves one question unanswered, 4 marks are deducted, which would make the maximum marks 716. Similarly, if a student gets only one question wrong out of all the questions, 5 marks are deducted, making it 715 marks.
Fifthly, the result was announced on 4th June, earlier than expected. Some people expected the result to be declared on 14th June, but NTA declared it on 4th June. NTA has responded to this and explained some things.
NTA said that grace marks were given to some students to compensate for the delay in receiving the paper. Additionally, many students wrote answers from the old edition of NCERT books, and they were also given marks for this.
NTA also mentioned that there were more students attempting NEET this time, which is why more people got rank 1.
Lastly, NTA clarified that the result has to be released as soon as possible according to the procedure, which is why it was released on June 4.
After the result was released, some students preparing for medical exams expressed concerns about possible paper leaks at some centers. As a result, students are demanding a re-examination, and some have even filed an application in the Supreme Court regarding this. Many experts have also supported this demand and expressed dissatisfaction with the results. However, NTA has denied any allegations of a paper leak.
