The National Testing Agency has opened the application correction window for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test 2026, giving candidates an opportunity to modify or correct details in their application forms. Students who submitted their NEET UG 2026 forms earlier can now make necessary corrections through the official website until March 14. This step is important for applicants who may have made mistakes while filling out their forms during the registration process. The correction facility allows candidates to update specific personal and academic details before the forms are finally locked for evaluation.
Correction Window Open After Application Deadline
The NEET UG 2026 registration process began on February 8 and concluded on March 11. Following the closure of the application window, the testing agency activated the correction facility on March 12 so that candidates can rectify any mistakes in their submitted forms.
Candidates can access the correction facility through the official website of the exam authority. After logging in with their credentials, applicants can review their submitted information and update certain fields where modifications are permitted.
According to the examination authority, this correction facility is available only for a limited time. Students must complete all required modifications before the deadline because once the correction window closes, no further changes will be allowed in the application form.
The testing agency has also clarified that the correction facility will be available only once. After candidates make the changes and submit the revised application form, the form will be frozen and no additional editing will be permitted.
Details That Candidates Are Allowed to Modify
The testing agency has specified the list of fields that can be edited during the correction window. Candidates are allowed to modify certain personal details including either their father’s information or their mother’s information.
Applicants may change one of the following sets of details: father’s name along with his qualification and occupation, or mother’s name along with her qualification and occupation.
Apart from parental information, students can also update educational details such as Class 10 and Class 12 qualification information. Candidates can also modify the state or union territory from which they have passed or are appearing in Class 12 examinations.
Other fields open for correction include category, sub-category, and disability status for candidates applying under the Persons with Disabilities category. Candidates can also update their digital signature and correct the number of attempts they have previously made in the NEET examination.
The examination authority has also allowed candidates to change their examination city preference and the medium of the exam. These options may be modified based on the candidate’s permanent and current residential address.
Identity Details and Fee Changes
Another important update announced by the testing agency concerns identity verification. Candidates who registered using an identity document other than Aadhaar will also be allowed to update their identity details during the correction window.
However, the examination authority has clarified that some corrections may lead to changes in the application fee. If any modification affects the fee category or other payable charges, candidates will have to pay the additional amount before submitting the corrected form.
The agency has also stated that corrections will only be considered valid once the additional payment, if required, is successfully completed. Therefore, applicants are advised to carefully review their updated details and ensure that all required payments are made within the correction period.
NEET UG Remains India’s Largest Medical Entrance Exam
The NEET UG is the only national-level entrance examination used for admission to undergraduate medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, and other allied health programmes in India. The exam is conducted annually for students seeking admission to medical colleges across the country.
Over the past few years, the number of applicants appearing for the exam has increased significantly. The examination has become one of the largest entrance tests in the world in terms of the number of candidates.
Data from previous years shows a steady rise in registrations. In 2024, more than 24,06,079 candidates registered for the examination. In 2025, around 22.7 lakh students applied for NEET UG. Earlier years also witnessed high participation, with 20,87,462 registrations recorded in 2023.
Similarly, 18,72,343 students registered in 2022, while the number of applicants stood at 16,14,777 in 2021. In 2020, around 15,97,435 candidates applied for the exam, and in 2019 the total registrations were 15,19,375.
Experts believe the rising number of applicants reflects the growing demand for medical education in India. Thousands of students across the country compete for limited seats in government and private medical colleges each year.
Important Advice for Candidates
Education experts advise candidates to carefully review their application forms before submitting corrections. Students should verify spelling, personal details, academic information, and category status to avoid any issues during the admission process.
Applicants are also encouraged to keep copies of their corrected forms and payment receipts for future reference. Any discrepancies found later in the application may affect eligibility during counselling or admission stages.
Candidates who have applied for the exam should regularly check the official website for further updates regarding exam city slips, admit cards, and examination schedules.
