Newswise — WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Saturday, May 16, 2026—Armed Forces Day—the Uniformed Services University (USU) will celebrate the accomplishments of nearly 300 graduates during its 47th Commencement Ceremony at the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Constitution Hall. The ceremony marks a major milestone as the nation’s future military and public health leaders officially transition from academic study to professional service worldwide.
Highlighting USU’s mission to train specialized healthcare professionals for the military and public health fields, the Class of 2026 includes officers and enlisted members from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Public Health Service, and Coast Guard, alongside civilian students.
Across the university’s four distinct institutions, degrees will be conferred to 164 students in medicine and public health, 54 in advanced practice nursing, 45 in biomedical sciences, 21 in advanced practice dental education, and 10 in health sciences. They represent the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine, the Daniel K. Inouye Graduate School of Nursing, the Postgraduate Dental College, and the College of Allied Health Sciences.
Steeped in rich military heritage, the USU event is one of the most unique graduation ceremonies in the nation. Graduates will enter DAR Constitution Hall to the notes of “Pomp and Circumstance,” performed live by “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band. In a signature university tradition, uniformed medical program graduates will cross the stage in academic regalia before returning in their respective military service uniforms to take their commissioning oaths and receive promotions to their next rank.
