Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will secure a full majority in the upcoming state elections, set to be announced on October 8. Speaking in an interview with India Today, Nayab Singh Saini credited his party’s success to its dedication and honest service to all sections of society over the past decade. He emphasized the BJP’s efforts in uplifting the youth, addressing farmers’ concerns, and working with integrity.
“I am confident of winning the polls,” Nayab Singh Saini said during the interview. “Given the honesty with which we served the people of Haryana, I am sure of it. My government instilled confidence in the youth and worked for the farmers.”
While maintaining a confident stance on the BJP’s prospects, Nayab Singh Saini also addressed questions regarding the party’s leadership post-election. He confirmed that the BJP’s parliamentary board will decide the Chief Minister’s face if the party secures a third term. “In the BJP, we have a parliamentary board that decides on critical issues such as the Chief Minister’s face,” Nayab Singh Saini explained.
Despite several exit polls predicting a potential Congress victory in the Haryana assembly elections, Nayab Singh Saini dismissed these forecasts, insisting that the BJP is poised to secure its third consecutive term in power. The Congress, led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda, is aiming for a comeback after a decade out of power, but Nayab Singh Saini remains firm in his belief that the BJP will retain control of the state.
Nayab Singh Saini also acknowledged that if the BJP does not perform as expected in the elections, the responsibility would fall on him as the party’s chief figure in Haryana. However, he expressed full confidence in the work his government has accomplished, stating that the party’s efforts to improve the state would resonate with voters.
The Haryana assembly elections, held on Saturday, saw a voter turnout of nearly 67 percent. Both the BJP and Congress are in fierce competition, with Congress eyeing a comeback after a ten-year gap. The outcome of the election will determine whether the BJP secures a third term or if Congress manages to reclaim power in the state.
As election results are awaited, Nayab Singh Saini’s confidence in the BJP’s governance and commitment to the people remains strong, even as exit polls suggest a tight contest between the two major parties.
