Vipin Reshammiya, the esteemed music director and father of singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya, has passed away at the age of 87. Vipin Reshammiya died on the evening of September 18, following a period of health complications related to age and breathing difficulties. He was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, where he was receiving treatment for these issues.
The news of his death was confirmed by family friend Vanita Thapar, who spoke to ETimes about Vipin Reshammiya’s condition. Thapar, who described her relationship with Reshammiya as being akin to family, shared that he had been struggling with breathing problems before his passing. She reflected on their long-standing relationship, recalling that she had affectionately called him “papa” since his days in television serial production. Thapar also noted that Anup Singh, a numerologist, was close to Reshammiya, highlighting the deep connections he had within his personal and professional circles.
Vipin Reshammiya’s career in music was notable for his contributions to the Indian film industry. He composed music for several films, including a project featuring Salman Khan, which played a pivotal role in launching Himesh’s career. It was during the production of this film that Salman Khan first discovered Himesh Reshammiya’s musical talent, leading to Himesh’s subsequent breakthrough as a composer in Salman’s film “Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya.”
In addition to his work as a music director, Vipin Reshammiya was also involved in film production. He worked as a producer on notable projects such as “The Xpose” (2014) and “Teraa Surroor” (2016), both of which featured his son Himesh. His contributions to the music industry were significant, including his work on the unreleased film “Insaaf Ka Suraj” (1990).
