Ramoji Rao, the illustrious media baron and founder of Eenadu and Ramoji Film City, passed away on Saturday morning in Hyderabad. Ramoji Rao was undergoing treatment at a local hospital and breathed his last at 3:45 am.
Following the news of his demise, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his condolences to Ramoji Rao’s family, friends, and admirers. Sharing a photograph of himself with Ramoji Rao, the Prime Minister praised the media mogul’s visionary contributions to Indian media.
“The passing away of Shri Ramoji Rao Garu is extremely saddening. He was a visionary who revolutionized Indian media. His rich contributions have left an indelible mark on journalism and the world of films. Through his noteworthy efforts, he set new standards for innovation and excellence in the media and entertainment world,” the Prime Minister tweeted.
“Ramoji Rao Garu was extremely passionate about India’s development. I am fortunate to have had several opportunities to interact with him and benefit from his wisdom. Condolences to his family, friends, and countless admirers during this difficult time. Om Shanti,” he added.
Telangana BJP chief and party MP G Kishan Reddy also expressed his sorrow over Ramoji Rao’s passing. “His remarkable contributions to Telugu media and journalism are commendable. My deepest condolences to his family members. Om Shanti,” he wrote on X.
Ramoji Rao, born on November 16, 1936, was a prominent businessman, media entrepreneur, and film producer. He led the Ramoji Group, which includes the world’s largest film production facility, Ramoji Film City, the Eenadu newspaper, ETV Network of TV channels, and the film production company Usha Kiran Movies.
In addition to his media enterprises, Ramoji Rao’s business ventures spanned Margadarsi Chit Fund, Dolphin Group of hotels, Kalanjali shopping mall, Priya pickles, and Mayuri Film Distributors.
