"Greatly cherish interacting with him…": PM Modi after meeting former President, BJP veterans

New Delhi [India], June 8 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is all set to take oath as PM for the third consecutive time on June 9, expressed his admiration after meeting former President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, as well as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veterans Murli Manohar Joshi and LK Advani.

Following his interaction with former President Kovind, PM Modi said on ‘X’, “Met former President @ramnathkovind Ji. I greatly cherish interacting with him, especially thanks to his unique perspectives of matters of policy and empowering the poor.”

In the post, PM Modi said that Murli Manohar Joshi is greatly respected across India for his wisdom and knowledge.

“Called on Dr Murli Manohar Joshi Ji. I have learnt so much from him when I was working in the Party organisation. He is greatly respected across India for his wisdom and knowledge,” PM said.

After meeting LK Advani, Prime Minister Modi shared his reverence for the BJP stalwart.

“Went to Advani Ji’s residence and sought his blessings. Every @BJP4India Karyakarta is inspired by Advani Ji’s monumental efforts to strengthen the Party,” PM Modi said.

Earlier on Friday, a BJP delegation from Varanasi handed over the 2024 Lok Sabha victory certificate to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. They arrived from Varanasi to New Delhi on May 6 to present the certificate to PM Narendra Modi.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi had his first meeting with the people of Kashi on Thursday evening after winning from the Varanasi parliamentary constituency. He was overwhelmed with emotion during this time. BJP leaders from Varanasi presented him with the certificate of victory upon reaching Delhi,” as per a BJP press release.

After the vote count on June 4, the Varanasi District Magistrate presented the certificate to BJP leaders.

Notably, PM Modi has defeated Congress candidate Ajay Rai with a margin of 1,52,513 votes, according to the Election Commission of India.

Prime Minister Modi received 6,12,970 votes while Ajay Rai received 4,60,457 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Ather Jamal Lari was in the third position with 33,766 votes.

“PM Modi respectfully accepted the certificate, calling it a mandate from the people,” the release said.

After the meeting with PM Modi, BJP Kashi zone president Dileep Patel said, “PM Modi is the second Prime Minister in Indian history who will take the oath of the Prime Minister of India for the third time.”

“The delegation that reached New Delhi with the certificate from Kashi included Kashi zone president Dileep Patel, state government minister Ravindra Jaiswal, minister Dr Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu, Mayor Ashok Tiwari, MLA Dr Neelkanth Tiwari, district president and MLC Hansraj Vishwakarma, district panchayat president Poonam Maurya, Surendra Narayan Singh Audhe, state treasurer Manish Kapoor, city president Vidyasagar Ray, MLC Dharmendra Ray and others,” as per the release.

On Friday, the President appointed Narendra Modi to the office of Prime Minister of India. The President requested him to advise her about the names of other persons to be appointed members of the Union Council of Ministers and indicate the date and time of the swearing-in-ceremony to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 9.

An NDA delegation also called on the President and a letter stating that Narendra Modi had been elected leader of the BJP Parliamentary Party was handed over to her.

Letters of support from NDA constituent parties were also given to the President.BJP president JP Nadda led the delegation which included party leaders Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Ashwini Vaishnaw and CN Manjunath. The delegation also had leaders of other parties in the NDA including N Chandrababu Naidu, Nitish Kumar, Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), Sanjay Jha, Eknath Shinde, HD Kumaraswamy, Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Pawan Kalyan, Ajit Pawar, Anupriya Patel, Jayant Chaudhary, Joyanta Basumatary, Atul Bora, Indra Hang Subba, Sudesh Mahto, Chandra Prakash Choudhary, and Ramdas Athawale.

BJP-led NDA won a third successive term in office under the leadership of PM Modi in the Lok Sabha elections. (ANI)
