Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced the closure of all schools and colleges in Manipur for Monday, May 6th, and Tuesday, May 7th, 2024, in response to heavy rain and hailstorms.
N Biren Singh emphasized that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to safeguard against the risks posed by the severe weather conditions across the state. He urged residents to stay indoors and stay informed about updates.
The inclement weather, characterized by heavy rainfall and hailstorms, caused significant damage to homes and vehicles in various parts of Manipur. Areas like Canchipur and Tera in Imphal West were particularly affected, with reports of structural damage and destruction of hutments due to strong winds.
The closure of educational institutions aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff members during this period of adverse weather conditions.
