As anticipation mounts for the announcement of Lok Sabha Election 2024 results on June 4 by the Election Commission of India, voting is currently underway for the biennial elections to six seats in the Karnataka Legislative Council. These elections come in the wake of the retirement of six members, prompting the need for fresh representation.
A total of 78 candidates are contesting across various constituencies, including Karnataka North East Graduates, Karnataka South West Graduates, Bangalore Graduates, Karnataka South-East Teachers, Karnataka South-West Teachers, and Karnataka South Teachers seats. The voting process commenced today, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 6.
The Lok Sabha elections, conducted over 7 phases from April 19 to June 1, saw widespread nationwide participation. While the official announcement of the election results is still pending, exit polls have overwhelmingly predicted a landslide victory for the ruling BJP and its NDA allies, with the Opposition India bloc trailing significantly.
All eyes are now on the Election Commission’s declaration, expected later today, which will determine the outcome of this crucial electoral exercise.
