As the campaign for the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections heats up, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi are set to address election rallies in Delhi today. PM Modi will attend a public event in North East Delhi in the evening, where BJP candidate Manoj Tiwari is contesting against Congress’s Kanhaiya Kumar. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi will hold a rally at Ramlila Maidan. With 695 candidates from eight states and Union Territories contesting 49 seats in the fifth phase on May 20, the stakes are high.
Traffic Advisories Issued for Delhi Rallies
The Delhi Traffic Police (DTP) has issued traffic advisories due to the election rallies of PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi. Residents are advised to use public transportation in affected areas. Special traffic arrangements will be in place in the Yamuna Khadar area, where PM Modi is scheduled to hold a public meeting at 6:30 PM, starting from 2 PM. At Ramlila Maidan, where Rahul Gandhi will address his rally, traffic routes will also be diverted from 2 PM onwards.
MK Stalin Criticizes PM Modi Over Divisive Campaign
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his divisive campaigning. Stalin accused Modi of spreading false propaganda and inciting interstate conflict, particularly targeting southern states. He also defended the DMK’s free bus travel scheme for women, which Modi has publicly opposed.
Kashmir Poll Officers Prepare for Contingency Polling Plans
In Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch District, election officers are preparing a contingency plan to conduct polls inside school bunkers in case of cross-border firing near the Line of Control on voting day. Poonch district, part of the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency, is set to vote on May 25 during the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
