The Kremlin pushed back against US President Joe Biden’s recent comments about Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling them a “disgrace for the United States.” Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for the Kremlin, criticized Biden’s words, saying they were rude and reflected poorly on the US itself.
Peskov said such language wouldn’t affect Putin but would hurt America’s reputation. He accused Biden of acting like a character from a Hollywood movie to win support at home.
Peskov also challenged Biden’s claims, asking his team to find one insulting remark from Putin about Biden. He said if a US president used such words, they should be ashamed.
Biden’s comments, made at a fundraiser in San Francisco, called Putin a “crazy SOB” and mentioned the constant threat of nuclear war.
“We have a crazy SOB like Putin and others, and we always have to worry about nuclear conflict, but the existential threat to humanity is climate,” Biden said.
It is pertinent to note that it was not for a first time that Biden has used such remark against Putin. He has previously used strong language to describe Putin, calling him a “butcher,” a “war criminal,” and a “thug.” He blamed Putin and “his thugs” for Navalny’s death.
Meanwhile, the White House on Thursday announced plans for significant sanctions against Russia. White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby highlighted the sanctions plan, asserting “it’s clear that President [Vladimir] Putin and his government are responsible for Mr. Navalny’s death.”
