During a campaign rally on Monday, Kanhaiya Kumar, the Congress candidate for North East Delhi, criticized BJP’s nominee Manoj Tiwari, alleging that despite being an MP, Manoj Tiwari has been “absent” from his constituency for the majority of his two terms.
Kanhaiya Kumar accused Manoj Tiwari and the BJP of “fooling” voters twice and predicted that they would make the same old promises for the third time.
In videos posted on his official social media handle, Manoj Kumar vowed to ensure more visibility for the MP within the constituency. He pledged to bring Manoj Tiwari out from his distant bungalow and onto the streets to address the concerns of the people.
“They will sweet-talk you again. They will promise that the unfulfilled promises of the last 10 years will be done in the next five years. They are insulting the people of this area,” Kanhaiya Kumar alleged.
Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav announced that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would hold roadshows in support of Kanhaiya Kumar and the other two Congress candidates on Wednesday. Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to hold roadshows at Model Town and Jahangirpuri.
Thousands of Congress and Aam Aadmi Party workers are expected to participate in the roadshow, according to Devender Yadav.
The Congress and INDIA bloc workers have been conducting extensive canvassing in all seven Lok Sabha constituencies, demonstrating complete coordination and understanding, Devender Yadav noted.
Additionally, a meeting of the manifesto committee of Delhi Congress was held on Tuesday to finalize the draft constituency-specific manifestos, which will address issues affecting the three Lok Sabha seats contested by the party.
Chairman of the manifesto committee, Anil Chaudhary, stated that the draft copies of the manifesto would be submitted to Devender Yadav and AICC general secretary Deepak Babaria for approval.
Polling for the 7 Lok Sabha seats in Delhi is scheduled for the 6th phase on May 25.
